Tap Permitting and Service Line Installation

Welcome to the St. Mary's Glacier Water & Sanitation District. We're glad you are joining the Community and look forward to serving your water and wastewater needs.

TAP PERMITTING

Here is the general process for permitting your water and wastewater taps:

  1. Please reach out to us directly at smgwsd.operations@gmail.com or (720) 722-3692 to verify that your lot is serviceable for water and wastewater. If it is NOT within 100 ft of the main lines, then you will NOT be able to tap into the lines. Note that within District boundaries, there are no other options for water and wastewater services (i.e. well and septic).
  2. Fill out and send to us the SMGWSD Tap Permit Application . This can either be emailed to smgwsd.operations@gmail.com or mailed to 7599 Fall River Rd, Idaho Springs, CO 80452.
  3. This application will go before the Board for approval during the monthly Board meetings. If you need it before then, please reach out to us, and we will try to work with your timeline.
  4. We will then send you an invoice according to the updated Fee Schedule.
  5. Once you've paid, we will send your Letter or Approval to the Clear Creek County Building Department (with you copied) so that they can move forward with issuing your Building Permit.

SERVICE LINE INSTALLATION

The District will do all of the trenching, main line tapping, and service line installation within the right-of-way (i.e. road) up to the curb stop for water lines and the first clean out for wastewater lines. For installation of the service lines on your property, you have 2 options:

  1. Acting as a contractor, the District can install the remainder of the service lines for you at an additional cost. Please reach out to us in advance to schedule this service so that we can get you on the season's dig schedule.
  2. You can use your own contractor/do it yourself. Upon installation and before the service lines are buried, District employees will need to inspect the lines. Please reach out to us at least 48 hours in advance to schedule this inspection.

Feel free to contact us directly at smgwsd.operations@gmail.com or (720) 722-3692 if you have any questions.
